Both our emus started loosing a little bit of feathers on their sides. We thought they were rubbing up against something that was pulling them out but they have now lost a LOT of feathers. And I do mean a lot. I look and I don't see any bugs on them, but maybe I'm not looking for the right thing? Any ideas? Do they molt? I am trying to find a vet that does house calls which is turning out to be a fun adventure...

Thanks SO much!

They get emu ration and sometimes sneak a bite of goat pellets while I close the gate.
They have been wormed...I wonder if they are picking out each others feathers? The only other thing living with them are pygmy goats so they can't reach. ;) Hmmmm

Not enough nutrition, just like chickens do. Apparently they are pulling a switcharoo on me and when I leave they eat the goat feed and the goats knock over the emu feed and eat it.
