enclose the run for winter?

Is there anyone that knows what to do for four chickens in the Texas Hill Country.

I have the north side of the coop made of plywood and the west and east side are 1/2 plywood and 1/2 screen the south side is all screen.

We do have cold nights. Last year we have one night at 18. The girls have hay down and they roost together but not sure if I should just cover the open areas with traps or what. Any advise would be most helpful.

Thanks,
Liza

My mother suggested filling bags with dry leaves and stacking (and tying) these around the walls of the coop for insulation...... I might try it ..... haven't decided yet, but at least it'll be free and less prone to mold as the nags will help keep the water out.

I covered my run in plastic because some of my birds are still rather young. Next year I plan to leave the runs mostly open and simply build a sunroom off one side of the coop for any warmth they may be looking for.
