enclosed run - Chicken wire roof?

I have used 2x4 wire 'deer fencing' as the 'roof' over the run. The fencing sections are overlapped by about one 4in section and then secured together by zip ties. If something really wanted to get in, it probably could so it is more of a deterrent than anything. It has been successful at keeping everything out so far on a fairly cheap budget. Could switch to mid-weight wire ties but had plenty of little 3in ties around the house.

We lock our chickens up at night so we used 2" chicken netting on top. That being said, our newest grow out coop and run got an entire roof and I'll never go back. We get a ton of rain here and the other two runs are muddy messes. The one with the roof is completely dry and SO much fun to go and sit in when it rains. We just threw some tin roofing up there.
