What is the nest type or build of "top" or roof on the runs yall have built? I have a large yard with a coop inside of it but my fencing is only about 3.5 feet high and I am afraid they will fly out. I have a 7 foot privacy fence around the rest of the yard so I know they cant leave that easily, but I want to keep them in their space!
Help!

Mine has a solid roof on the run, but if yours is only 3.5' tall, I would suggest a hardware cloth lid that can be removed so you can get in and clean the run as necessary.

We have a run that is tall enough to walk into for cleaning purposes. It has 4x4 posts on the corners and 2x2 posts around to create a frame. The frame is 10x6x10 It is entirely wrapped in chicken wire. It is very sturdy and safe. I do not recommend leaving your top open as I have seen some folks do. It allows for predators to have easy access to your chickens! I don't know much about building enclosures, but I do know about predators and we regularly have fox, coyotes, and hawks etc and nothing has been able to penetrate the chicken wire enclosure.

I'm guessing you meant to comment on some other thread (also, chicken wire is the furthest thing from secure, raccoons will rip that right apart).
