ENCOURAGE HEN TO GO BROODY ? LEAVE EGGS ?

I have had some people say that a hen will not go broody if you keep taking her eggs and others say that if a hen is going to go broody it will sit even on one egg. Do I leave the eggs to encourage her or not ? I don't want to waste them either as they often get broken in the chicken house by the other chickens.

Seems like if I leave the eggs for a couple of days,they lay more and more are likely to go broody,but that is no guarantee. I just gave my white leghorn hen 10 eggs today. She has been on the nest for almost a week even though I've taken the eggs out from under her every day.
