Encouraging a chicken to go broody

Can you actually encourage a chicken to go broody? How? Heat? Light?

Hey I already have 5 chickens in a basement, whats a couple more

Yes it can be done, may take a bit of time, but it can be done. You can either let some fake eggs in the nest or you can put her in a box, just big enough for her fit and keep it as dark as possible, allowing her to be out once a day to eat, drink and poo. Keep some fake eggs under her while in the box. Either way it may take a week or more, give or take a day or 2. Good luck..............
