We have a hen who has separated heself from the rest of the flock. Think it was because of 1 of our roasters, he was very big causing damage to the hens feathers and bodies. He unfortunately died after a dog attack (maybe things happen for a reason) now we are left with just the 1 rooster who she came with from our landlord and used to always follow around.
She has since came back and is trying to join back but seems scared of kellogg the rooster. Do she wont go into the coup to lay her eggs like she used to.
Does any1 have any ideas how to encourage her to lay in a certain place even if its not the coup (we do live in a huge olive grove) she sleeps up a tree right in front of our house but shes always slept up a tree never in the coup she used to only go in the coup to lay xxx

Get a basket, fill it with hay,,, and fashion a nest in there. Place below the tree where she usually roosts. Chickens do like the comfort of a nest to lay their egg. (most chickens anyways)
Try this and see what happens.
WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, :highfive:

I have a chicken who is a loner. But seemed hesitant to lay. So I made her a nest in an old bird cage/animal travelling cage and left the door open but covered it half with a tarp. She lays in there, and I can move it gradually to where I want it to be. I think she feels secure in there.

Thanks guys she seems to be choosing to sleep in a tree close to the coup, in the last few days shes able to get closer to the group . I have got a fake egg in a big planter she like to sit in hope that works. When the time comes to harvest the olives there will be 100's of eggs under 1 lol xx
