Its my first time using an incubator. It's a forced air with egg turner, and I didn't know that the temp and humidity readings weren't to be trusted so I wasn't double checking them. Day 5 the temp dropped to 97 for a few hours, but I fixed the issue. Candled at day 7, had a few infertile that I removed, candled day 17, things looked great, saw all the veins, they were moving, etc. Pulled out a few early quitters, and I was left with about 35. I increased the humidity, and went into lockdown. Nothing since then. It's the end of day 21, No pips, no peeps, no rocking, etc. I'm guessing the temp was off or something, so I lost my entire first hatch, and I'm so sad. Just venting, sorry.

All is not lost yet. If the temperature was a bit on the low side they may yet hatch, they'll just take a few days longer. If none have pipped there's nothing to stop you candling a few to see if any have pipped into the air cells. That means they aren't far off pipping externally. But try to keep the egg in the same position as it is sitting in the incubator. :fl

No pips, so I candeled. The eggs are basically full except for the air sac. Didn't see any pips, thought I saw functioning veins in some though, so I don't know. I'll just leave them for a few days, but collect a new batch

OK so the one that zipped seems like it hasn't gotten through the membrane. The pips that are there also seem to not be through the membrane, so I'm guessing the humidity was too low. How long can the chick survive pushing against the membrane after zipping? I've h
Assisted in hatching a duck that was stuck and it went fine, I know it's frowned upon, but I don't want to lose this chick that is clearly ready to come out

Sorry, I'm in a different time zone (it's early morning here). How's the chick doing? If it's unzipping but not breaking free I'd jump in and help out.
I put some wet sponges in and have the humidity as high as I can get it. I had to go to work, but my husband (who knows nothing about hatching) said he can see the beak out now, so it broke the membrane and at least it can breathe now. I'm going to leave work early and if no progress I'm going to assist, but I feel better knowing it can breathe

So it hasn't really progressed. Beak is out and it's cheeping, but it's been like this for hours now. Should I assist?
