I've read through a lot of these threads and I've been digging online for a bit about English ivy. I wanted to add it to the legs of my quail hutches and let it grow naturally since they are off the ground, in a very shady area.

I've found info for grape ivy and others but nothing specifically on English ivy and safety for quail- only a few things about chickens.

So... is it safe?

I've also got a Chinese privet tree andJapanese spindletree.

My pussy willow isn't quite ready and still too young to give cuttings to.

Id hate for all these cuttings going to waste.

Great question.....I have English Ivy growing in my koi pond area, but I keep all the vines (ivy, grape, trumpet creeper, etc trimmed away from my aviary because I do not want it to interfere with the netting/construction integrity). I have used the grapevines for perch material in my budgie/finch subaviary and while my gamebirds do not have direct daily access to the koi pond area, the have found their way to that area before without any negative effects. My duck swims in the koi pond occasionally and I’ve had chickens and turkeys free range that area in the past. So my guess would be that it is safe/non-toxic.

Great! Thank you so much!
