But seriously though, orpingtons are pretty chill as far as chickens go. They make good mothers, or so i hear.

That's what I've gleaned from research. They are good starter birds, and I am definitely just getting started! Large brown eggs, from what I have read. I will be posting a pic of one chick's vent. She had what appeared to be the remnants of umbilical cord stuck to her fluff, all dried out. I gave her a gentle washcloth wipe and noticed her vent was exposed. Not red or irritated, just visible. It almost looks like some of the fluff got pulled. She appears fine, eating, drinking, and sleeping. Thanks for feedback, Compost.
