Hello all,

Has anyone hatched an orpington with a english orpington rooster x american orpington hen? If so, could you please post pictures of them?

I’ve searched the internet for this combo but with no success. A nice gal gave me 4 and they’re currently incubating right now. I believe they will be buff colored. Would love a sneak peek of what they may potentially look like.

Thank you!

I think they're body type would be somewhere in between. :idunno
That is correct. You'll have a bird that falls somewhere in the middle. Orpington purists (such as myself) frown heavily on the practice. Especially if the "American" Orpingtons are from a hatchery. If they are sourced from an APA breeder and of high quality, I suppose I could see a scenario where you might outcross to bring in a desired trait your line currently lacks, but I don't think I would.

Thanks for the input! It was more of a curiosity, I was given these eggs and I can only suspect it was to bring new blood into a line with another group closest to it that she had available. In any case, I’m not striving to meet any SOP guidelines and I’ll love their unique features just like my other mutts 😁 Just threw the inquiry out in the event someone had pictures, both types are very beautiful but I cant seem to imagine what a mix looks like. Im actually surprised that I havent seen this combination on the internet at all but all other random combinations of chicken breeds do
