Enlarged abdomen in Sebright hen

One of my hens has a rather large abdomen, so much so that her legs are beginning to rub against it and making the skin a bit red.

I first noticed she was getting a larger abdomen about a year ago although she seemed happy in herself and wasn't showing any adverse symptoms so I left her alone. Since then it has grown at a slow pace although she is still a perfectly happy chicken.

She's 4 years old so getting on a bit, I just wondered if anyone knew what would cause an enlarged abdomen which seemingly isn't causing any other distressing symptoms.

Have you tried giving her epsom salt baths? I'm not sure that I have ever come across an enlarged abdomen like that...

Sorry to say it but it's most likely a reproductive cancer or perhaps an internal laying problem. If you look up necropsies of either one, you'll see how large the masses can get. I'm surprised that she seems so happy and is so mobile though..
