This ginormous egg was laid by Ethel, one of our two Easter Eggers (Lucy is her sister) on Christmas Eve. It measured just over THREE INCHES long and was a double-yolker. Poor Ethel; she needed an epidural for THAT event! The white egg in my hand is a store-bought, extra-large egg for comparison. Ethel was 23 weeks old at the time. This chicken raising thing is a BLAST!
Yup, double-yolker. I REALLY didn't want to crack it open. In fact, I think if I ever find another remotely like it, I'll blow it out and save it for display (or something?).
