My wife called me this morning and told me that one of our hens was making a racket (egg song). This is quite unusual because for some reason our girls never sing for us. She went out to check on them and they were all on the ground scratching and eating bugs but no eggs. She did notice Lucy walking around like she had been “a little long in the saddle” if you catch my drift. I went out when I got home and found this.
The egg on the left is what our golden comet (Lucy) lays on a regular basis, the one on the right however is what she laid today. There is no wonder why she was walking the way she was, bless her heart.
We was wondering if this would be a double yolker or not, so finally the suspense was too much and we cracked it.
Sure enough it was. This is our first extra large double yolk egg and it is very cool, however, for Lucy’s sake I hope it is our last. Thanks again Miss Lucy!
