Now that my peas have wandered off four times in the last two months I am incarcerating them indefinitely! I can't take the anxiety. I may free rage again in the future, but until then, is there anything I should do to keep them entertained while penned? They have a large run attached to a shed and several perches. What else should I do so they don't go stir crazy?

Since you said they have a large run, that is good. That should help their transition from free-range to the pen. Also giving them lots of treats can help make them happy. If there are certain plants in the yard you know they like eating, get some of those for them to have. Search for bugs to give them (sometimes I catch grasshoppers for my peas). Peafowl love the tender new growth on thorn vines.

It sounds like you have made a nice place for them. Are they pacing the fence? My first pair I free-ranged and after they both ran away, I was only able to catch the peahen and so I penned her. She was fine with being back in a pen, especially when I got two new peafowl to keep her company.

Haha do they do that only when they see you? Maybe if you hide they won't stand at the door. Mine like to head to the door when they see me so they get first dibs on treats.
