Wooooohooooooooo I've got a baby!

One has hatched so far from the dozen that my broody is on. It's still a bit wet, but it looks buff. There weren't supposed to be any buffs, but I'm thinking that white silkie babies sometimes have buff fluff, right?

I didn't want to lift mama up too much, cuz it's windy and ugly today, and I didn't want to chill the baby or mess up others that are hatching. I'm dying to get pictures, but I'm going to just wait...

Oh help me be strong and leave them alone!!!

I gave in and looked again. Two babies now, one is darker.

YAY There are 8 babies this evening. I've got them all in the brooder, and they're eating and drinking and acting like chicks!

Mama still has more eggs. Come on Barbara, give me more silkies...

Thanks for those crossed fingers! Give me blue and splash hens and roosters... that's what I'm wanting to breed.
