Eratic Laying Pattern

I'm almost always kidding except when I'm telling the truth, and even them I'm usually kidding. I'm just a harmless peace loving easily amused person with an overactive "free association" part of my brain. Coffee makes it worse, but I can't quit. But I'm also pretty hard to insult, because I think everyone else is joking too....

Peace!

And may all your chickens lay dependably, and make cute noises at you!

no oyster shell, I do give them some BSS for the protein. The eggs that I am getting have really strong shells.

Many pullets are eratic when starting to lay. It will settle out and pick up as they get into the swing of things.

Our first pullet to lay this year took a week from first small egg to produce a second egg then a few more days for third...about every other day...now one a day. Phew! Now awaiting the other pullets to start

It's fall. Laying gets a bit erratic in fall. To "smooth" things out a bit, I find a regular, pre-dawn light, set on a timer, year 'round, at 5 am, does help a bit. This is their regular wake-up call, every day of the year. This doesn't push them. I add no light in the evenings.
