Erminette Breed?

My Sand Hill order arrived, so I now have 12 Erminettes
What did you get?
I received a few from them this year too.
All I got where the erminette pattern and white. No blacks but then again they were sent to me as exchequer leghorns so black chicks would of been a dead give away that they weren't what I was being told they were.
Then again the "black leghorns" I received where all barred with a stocky build so who knows what they are.

I got 3 black ones. The others are white with black spots or nearly all white. Got one weird one with slate down and black streaks. Looks very different from the others.

We ordered Erminettes from Sandhill Preservation, straight run. Here are the three we think are the Erminettes. Interestingly only one is showing any black feathers.

Here is a pic of what an erminette should generally look like. This was copied from the American Erminette website just for the purpose of showing the white/black feathering, which should be approx 15% black and 85% white.

Here are my chicks at 3 weeks old. Anyone have any thoughts on the chicks and/or the coloring? Given the size of the feet of the one on the right in the second pic, I'm going to guess there is the strong likelihood that one is male.

Super cute! I have these as well but the weebly website that was the reference point for these birds doesn’t seem to exist any longer. Do you know where I could get more info? Standards, etc

I’m not sure. These birds are not a recognized breed by APA, so no documented standards that I can point you to. Maybe contact Sandhill to see if they have any info or resources as they sell them.

Hello all. There is a book on Erminettes called THE AMERICAN ERMINETTE that is now available on Amazon. For anyone interested in learning more about the breed, I encourage you to go and check it out.

Happy New Year!

So is this book you're pimping all over the forum a book you wrote?
