I'll separate if blood is ever drawn and since they don't currently fight, there's no reason to separate.

Good idea! I'll pass this along to my dadPerhaps we should stick to the main subject, keeping your rooster from escaping. I personally built a double door at the entrance of my coop so any chickens trying to escape would just end up in the space between the 2 doors. (around 3 feet.) I never had a chicken escape that way.
