escaping quail??

i bought two female quails and ive had them for about 6 months. at first they were tame but now they just put their beaks up the the wire and try to find a way out. and it causing the skin above their beaks to bleed. but why do they want to escape. it was just them two in the cage . do i need more quail in with them ???

And you are sure that they are both females? I know that when you house males and females together they will mate and that can cause the hen to lose the feathers on its head and make their heads bleed

no they are defo both females and i think where their beaks get scratched on the wire, thats what makes them bleed !!

I would get more, quail are sociable birds, my girls will act like this just before they lay as they get anxious but then calm down the rest of the time, depending on how big your cage is and where it is situated you may want to move it or plant it up to break up their eyesight and give them more seclusion perhaps, it sounds like they are anxious if continuous for some reason or another or do you only notice it just before they are due to lay?

How much space have they got? Is there something they can see that they want? Like for instance can they see where their food is kept? Can they hear other quail? Those are the only things I can think of that would cause that behaviour.

I keep two coturnix quail 1 male and 1 female this thing here no chickens just them and they sometimes have that happen to them the bleeding on the beak that is it only happens when i try to reach in to hold them or get them fresh food or water. Other than that i don't know why they would do that.

and you get something like this they are usually 30 seconds or less and no sound and this is a chicken gif

for some reason it glitching and not moving but look up dancing chicken gif and look for this one if you want it.
