What's your secret to establish this color?

I've seen a few pictures and I absolutely adore this color more than any other cochin color.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

One problem though,
Is there another name for a gold birchen?
Can't seem to find anyone selling them.

Or do I need to breed my own gold birchen too?
If so,how do I get a gold birchen?

I only see the regular birchen for sale (black and white)

Also is it fine to start with hatchery birds.I plan to buy the blues from a hatchery if I can not find a breeder.

L&Schickens :

I have not started yet, but I would like to establish some lemon blue Jersey Giants!
Great minds think alike I guess.

Yep,
I really like the lemon blue color. A lemon blue jersey giant would be gorgeous as their size and color put together would be double gorgeous!

Does it matter which gender to the color?

Example...

Blue COCK X Gold birchen HEN

OR

Gold Birchen COCK X Blue HEN

Does it matter?

Also, do you know where I could get a "brown red" ?
Could I possibly use a partridge cochin? They look somewhat similar...

And please clarify this, when you say "brown red " you are refering to the actual variety and not the regular red cochin variety?

Thank you!

I don't know where one can get anything much.

I looked at cochins on Feathersite saw the bird of the right colour & read the name.

For the interests of ease, presume the blue carries gold rather than silver.

It would help establish a line if you did both of the matings you suggest. The next step put the female blue offspring of the first pen to the gold birchen male of the second pair & blue male offspring of the second pen to the gold birchen females of the firstpen.
Otherwise it makes little difference which way round you do the matings.

Alright, I'll search for those colors you suggested and go from there.Hopefully get it established in a few years.

Thanks for getting me started!
