If winnie is a roo, his name will be "someone elses chicken".
We cant have roosteers here.
Im still not sure it is a rooster; I suppose I wont be unless it crows or lays an egg but
I'de love some other opinions in the mean time.

I can't wait to find out how the intergrations of the chicks is. I'm in the same boat. I have 3 hens that are 12 weeks old and 3 that are 6 weeks. Right now they are seperate but can hear eachother at night and I let them fre range together. They mostly stay apart sometimes the older girls will charge the little ones. Nothing ever happens. The little girls often charge right back or just escape. I'm hoping to have them all living togther by mid September(my vacation!). I'll be watching this thread!!

Thank you catalina

Yours are 2 weeks closer in age.
We will see what happens in a week with mine, but Ide' think you could get yours together by sept.

We have vacation coming up soon too, hope this works out

Mine are 8 weeks old today, and 16 weeks old today.

So depending on which of your posts is accurate, they are the same age difference or yours are 2 weeks closer to each other in age then mine

Is this the first set of chicks that you have brought together? It is for me. How do you plan on introducing them? Do you ever let them all free range at the same time?

Free rangeing in our yard isnt possible.
The plan is to, take down the barrier, with the help of my wife, and open the pullets main door.
When I open their door they will all run to me for cracked corn and I'll have my wife remove the barrier.
As usual, Ill toss more cracked corn on the ground and they will all be in a feeding frenzie.

After that, we will see what happens.

Thats the plan

At this point, the younger ones spend all day in the extended run and all the chickens interact, they all look at each other through the bars, the older ones will watch them for very long periods.
Likewise the younger ones go over to interact with the older ones.
