Fear, is the biggest problem in the coop now.
The older pullets seem ready to get on with the business of establishing pecking order rather then ridding the coop of invaders.
The problem is that the chicks are still very afraid of the pullets, if an older one gets too close to them, they panic, which I believe the older ones think is a challenge to them, so they peck at them as they rush by.
The good news is that, if the older ones keep a little distance, the younger ones will go about "business as usual",
for the most part.
With the two Australorps surrounding them, The chicks decide to inconspicuously enjoy the view outside the coop.
Relaxing, sort of.
Also called, "not moving so maybe that big bully won't see us"
At the end of the night I put the Dom's in with the rest and then brought the chicks in to the garage.
There was a little argument in the coop house about who was roosting where.
It seems there has been a slight change of position and the Dom's are not terribly pleased with this turn of events.
Tomorrow the chicks will be out there with all four pullets.
After all the chickens went to bed, I reattached the tractor, but in a different configuration then before.
I'll have pics that show this tomorrow.
At the end of the night tomorrow, I plan to let the chicks join the pullets in the coop house for a sleep over.
Things are moving forward!
