I am confused. I thought you had Ester, Winnie and Hazel seperated now in their own little group away from the others? And nowe Ester is afraid of Hazel and Winnie?
I guess either I missed something or I am not following.....

What your missing is my lack of time, I was hopeing to segregate them this weekend, their coop is not set up to segregate them the way I have it now.

I was going to pull the two parts apart, take out the temporary middle section thats there and build a temporary coop house for the tractor.

Time is not on my side.

At this point I have resigned myself to follow silkiechickens advice and just let them work it out.
I made this decision based on ther fact that I really have no choice.

I'm torn as to what is the best way to deal with this, but since I don't have time for construction, the choice has been made for me.

Breaking it down, I can keep an eye on them all day, but you can't go out and build anything when your home alone with a 15 month old baby.

I will say that Esther has been coming out today, at least more then yesterday. but I think she is disrupting the older chickens egg laying because she hides in the nest box alot of the time.

I have been trying to integrate my younger chickens with my older chickens since they were about 7 weeks, I can't sum up everything that I have tried in a short blurb, but I can say that Iv'e tried alot of different approaches.

I probably should have waited until they were older to start the actual integration because of the type of set up I have.
Iv'e come to the conclusion that, if your in a free range situation, you can integrate at a younger age.

At this point one of the younger ones is finally starting to be ok with the older flock, but at the same time that is happening, the other younger one is getting more and more afraid of the older ones and has retreated from the run into the coop house.

She has been hideing in the coop house for the last few days, ocassionally one of the older ones goes in there to lay an egg and chases her out.

They are 17 weeks old today, the older ones are 8 weeks older then the younger ones.

Thats the short version, for the longer one you may need a speed reading coarse lol

I'll have pics for the week in a few.

Sorry I can't sum up the last 10-17 weeks any better then that, but thats what this thread is all about.
