I am thinking about selling on etsy. Can you REALLY make money on there, even with the economy how it is?

Are there any drawbacks that I should know about, hidden costs, etc?

I was thinking about asking my sister and niece to have a store with me, we all do different things.

There are no hidden costs-you pay a little on what you sell. It takes a lot of work on your part to get your info. out there. Things won't usually just sell from being there and having people search for them. You also have to have a really good product, and good photography of products

Chelsea- Thanks for the info. I spent hours on there trying to make sure there are no hidden surprises. I make these dog crackers that no dog that I have given them to refuses, they will not leave you alone until you give them more. I have even given them to dogs that will only eat a couple of foods. I also do a lot of baking and cooking, as well as assorted other crafts.. My sister sews, quilts; her DDIL does many assorted crafts.

Presentation is EVERYTHING whether you are selling on Etsy, eBay or your own online store.

The more time you put into taking great photos, doing great photo editing, etc, it shows more pride in your work and it pays off.
