Here's my select breeding pens I'm building for the Marradunas. Ill be stacking nesting boxes in the far left attached to the pen for easy retrieval of the eggs.

No idea what the chick means. Nice breeding pens! I might have to make a couple of those

. Honestly, I got the pics onto photobucket yesterday, but we've been having some wicked thunderstorms, so I thought I'd better turn off the computer. They really do exist, I promise!

Here we go! These are some of the babies I hatched this year:

This is the new rooster that just arrived, he is a little scruffy, but I will get him looking sleek again in no time, I'm sure:

Now I just have to figure out how best to use him - He is big with nice barring and good coloured legs, but rather, well - WHITE!

So how would you use him? We are desperate for new blood and he is the furthest related to my birds.

Oh, I love, love, LOVE these! They're so . . . bird-like.

Do you have any idea how cold tolerant these guys are? Could they put up with confinement in a large barn over the winter?

And how come they're not listed in the BYC breed section? Are they very uncommon?

We will be starting new blood late this year. This will be a rigorous and diligent program. These are my babies and there will be perfection. If he is distant then that's good. If your going for the leg color then that's good but honestly you want really know what he's holding in his genes until you start breeding. Its that character and personality that's so worth preserving. They are like nothing I've raised before. Everyday they run through the fields jumping for bugs and chasing anything that moves. There's not one insect safe in my fields. I love it!
