I have interesting news--I am going to help a local egg farmer hatch out 100 to 200 EO Basque for his egg business. He moves them to different fields and orchards--he has 400 chickens now. They are truly free range and he sells the eggs for $7.00 per dozen in San Francisco....The eggs he sells are fertile too

I actually drove to Baton Rouge and picked up 5 chicks from mzstre. She threw in 3 eggs for my trouble, so not shipped. I am brand new to incubating. I learn something new every day. 2 of the 3 eggs had fully developed chicks that never pipped. I think maybe there wasn't sufficient air flow. I have removed the plugs from the vent holes and am maintaining a humidity of 65-80%. The temp is more tricky but the still air Little Giant I use for hatching ranges from 100-103. I move more eggs to the hatcher tomorrow. Hopefully I'll have better results this week!

I'm happy the chicks are doing good! You should post pics if you get a chance. Do you have an idea of the sexes yet?

Awww...I'm sorry the chicks didn't make it out of the shell. I usually dry hatch (about 25-30% humidity) and increase to 60-65% at LD. Has anyone here had lower hatch rates with higher humidity? I wonder if that was a factor.

Hi mzstre! I will attach pics tomorrow. I think I have 3 roos (lighter base color with grey wing and tail feathers) and 2 hens( more honey colored all over). They are doing great. I have more EOM eggs in the incubator now from eBay. They go on lockdown on 4/1. Currently 5 of them look good. I sure hope I have better luck. Atleast I'll have some unrelated stock to breed later if a few make it. Happy Easter!
