Euskal Oiloa ( Basque Thread)

We just add a pair of EOs to BYC's For Sale section: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/730736/millie-fleur-project-pair-of-eos-basque-in-ga

I know a lot of people make oogly eyes at the Millie Fleur pattern on them, so this is someone's chance to get started with that project. We have others for sale, but haven't listed them yet.

Nice. I didn't know people were interested in the millie fleur pattern. I have some of these im not really interested I'm breeding.

Good Luck with the sale!

Edited to add...

My head EO roo, Eddie, has had an attitude problem recently. A couple of mornings ago he kept running at my feet. I carried him around for a bit and then he was fine.

Today he ran at me sideways and bit my leg. I pinned him down and then carried him around again. After I set him down, he did it again, so I had to flatten him again. I really wanted to breed him, -he has yellow legs and a nice comb, which my other roo does not. Eddie is not really viscous or scary, but I don't want this to escalate.

I thought maybe being cooped up for so long has been hard on them, but so far, they've refused to walk in the snow. Today, I made a path of leaves on top of the snow leading out to some grass that is exposed, and they all came out. I have no idea if this will improve Eddie's attitude towards me at all, but being cooped up is the only thing I can think of that has changed since earlier in the fall when he was friendlier.

Eddie has the other roo cooped up with him to contend with, and there is a third Ameraucana roo with his own small flock, but the Ameraucanas are separated by two layers of chicken wire.

Put him into a cage or dog kennel inside the coop for a day. It's like time out. I have done that before and it worked!

Looking for Euskal Oiloa chicks or hatching eggs in the North Texas area. I have not had good luck with eggs that have been shipped, so would like to get some that I can drive and get. Will drive up to 2-3 hours.

Thanks!

Thanks Ron! I'll try that if his attitude continues. He's going to be really mad if he finds out you put that idea in my head..... :D

It was fun watching them free-range today. Normally, they only are let out into a large fenced-in area because of the garden. The flock stuck together in a tight group, and the 2 roosters got along fine. I'm starting to think I'd like to fence the garden instead, and let them roam freely, although I worry about the occasional neighborhood dog visiting.

Yes! The problem is that they are too smart!

We had a Pacific storm come through last night. We caught a break this morning so I took pictures.

This is Leela from Mrs. Fluffy Puffy:

Mrs. Fluffy Puffy is in Texas, but I don't know exactly where. She ships though!
