Thanks Claire for answering gootziecat.. I'm so glad you have experience with this breed.
With like all birds, being around their owners and people helps with skiddishness. My two lap birds are my Marraduna Basque and Wheaten Marans (Presley Line). These two breeds seem to really like attention.

I'm getting the cold shoulder because I didn't have treats today. Feeling used and abused

They should have a single comb, but we have had clavells thrown and the blue legs seen in Penedesencas. I have heard anecdotal evidence that the 2 breeds "run free" a lot together in Spain! And some of the eggs can be darker in ours (like 4-5 on marans scale)-though not 100% they are supposed to be thta dark. They are easy as big as the Cuckoo marans we have had. Our 3 year old guy is wider than any we Marans have ever had! My 2 one year old EO roos are more like the Cuckoo Marans size, some bulk and lots of height.

Looking foward to seeing what chicks you get Skyline!

I'm doing select mating for sure Claire. Did you get my email?
All mine are single comb. My roos are getting big! I culled a lot of birds yesterday. I'm down to about 40 now. I'm only mating my best. This is the breed I will have for life and there will be perfection!

Just posting so you know I am still watching and you aren't alone

Actually subscribed so I can keep track. I do like the looks of these birds and am interested in anything others have to say about them.

They are unusual looking aren't they Flnatv? Here's a pic I took yesterday of a 4 day old Euskal oiloa chick under a partridge chantecler broody momma. Looks like a little male as the "comb foot print" is wider, will know in 1-2 weeks for sure. He is just getting white wing feathers with grey black blobs on them (like a femmale would too). I hatched two EOs but the other was hiding under the other broody behind this one. Think the other chick is female! The partridge chanties are both first time moms and sharing the 12 chicks beautifully!

Love that pic, they totally hang around your feet like that! You have to watch where you step!

How very sweet!!!
and yes, they are very unusual.... that is probably why I think I will like them (along with what you all say about temperment)
