Pics
Claire, do you have pics of your birds in this thread? (sorry, haven't made the time to go through all the pages yet.) Or I bet you do over in your fancy Canadian forum, huh?

I've got two age groups going; a couple at 8 weeks and a big batch at a couple weeks. They are so soft, and they totally make different chirps than my other breeds. And they are so...indifferent to me, they just stand there when I try to rustle them back in the coop. Took me a couple times to figure out they weren't, um, on the lower spectrum of intelligence and it was just that they weren't afraid of me. Ha! Who's the ignoramus now?

*the man of the house is reading this laughing, saying how he tries to give them the rake treatment to get 'em into the coop, and they just stand there looking at him like he's a dumb jerk.

Yes, there are quite a few pics of mine with more pics that aren't here on the Euskal Oiloas forum and everyone else's in the show off your flock, farm gallery, pics of new chicks and choosing breeding stock sections! We'd be happy to take a look at your cute babies, I never tire of seeing them! As far as on here for pics, it is a matter of going through, I'd start at the end and work your way back.

They are smart cookies (for chickens!) and they can recognize a feed container from over 200 feet away...and stampede towards you when they spot it! And they certainly don't see us as a threat!

I laugh at your DHs description, as that is pretty typical.

Mine are voice trained to a loud "Bedtime", well they start to look guilty that they are not in the coop anyway, lol! Actually I walked with my arms outstretched and keep saying it and they go in pretty quick. Ours are loose in a barn with artificial lights but with regular dusk they are awesome to roost them selves. 4 out of 5 nights they go in on their own even with the light on unlike my chanteclers. You may find as they get a few weeks older, one of the more responsible roos will hang around in the door way, or just outside the coop when they wait for you to come and shut them up at dusk. That amazes me.

They are not pushy either, though (unless you have waffles or pancakes!), they are just right. Great temperaments! The closest temperament I have had to these are the Silver Pencilled Wyandotte from McMurrays, but these lay better!

Same here! Once again, I thought we had a little lagger on our hands but this makes total sense. Oh, the things we can learn from our chickens....look forward to going back through the posts and seeing what 50 pages have to say/show.

That is cool he's doing it already. They are neat birds and you'll find that roo that hangs about will be be a good bet for the best to keep, I'd lean towards keeping him unless he was way off the standard with 9 better brothers. They can be real gentlemen to the hens, the odd one is rougher but just more like a regular breed. Enjoy them and this thread.

Wow! Did I miss some post or what,lol..Love the Pics Steve! This is what I've been waiting on. Everyone is finally seeing what I and others have been experiencing with these birds. Sometimes I wonder who the boss is, me or them. Its been a long road of anticipation for me. Waiting to let others enjoy these wonderful birds and hear what they have to say.
We are shooting for yellow legs and as Claire has said, temperment is key. They definately have personality with egg laying skills behind them that could rival some of the best egg layers in my personal opinion.
Keep tthe pics and comments coming guys. Merry Christmas!
