Euskal Oiloa ( Basque Thread)

We are growing up a few Basque as well and expect that they are going to be amoung our favorites. Someone mentioned they don't think the black ticking on the hens is appropriate after looking at the pictures. I looked through them carefully after that statement and I do believe the hens exhibit the ticking, although maybe not to the extent ours have them. We like the ticking however and will not select against it.

We are also raising Rhodebars and love them as well. There is a great deal of similarity in the coloring of the roosters. We will likely cull our Basque roos to look different from the Rhodebars.

I have a basque from GFF I had two but one didn't survive shipment (GFF made good of it and they were great about it) So my chicks were light yellow almost white but my survivor is golden.) I think she is beautiful. She is not full grown May hatching and she is still peeping. She is petite. Not much bigger than my bantams. I would like to get some more but for now I am waiting to see how she turns out.. She is in a little flock with birchens and cream legbars.

Hi Jeff,

Those are great pictures! Did a Broody hatch them.

Get Skyline and the rest of them posting again. It is a big mistake to only go to that other thread and not post here too. It will be hard to get The Marraduna out into the US if we all hide in a Breed only place. Skyline has not posted here in several months It is hard to get a thread going if the Thread Starter ditches it. I did boost up a thread or two but it is hard.

Do you want me to boost this one?

Ron

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this breed but am so happy I took the plunge. They're sweet and curious and pretty too. I'm looking forward to watching them grow.

Loving the photos! Great thread!
