Euskal Oiloa ( Basque Thread)

Good morning! We are here, just hanging out, waiting for our chicks to grow up

Got a 19 week old rooster this morning from Ronott1. This guy is gonna be around for awhile to fertilize the upcoming hens. I think hes a very very handsome young guy! Hopefully he will get along with the rest of the flock until i get him some girls to keep him company! He's got a BRAMD NEW JUST BUILT 8x12 pallet coop all by himself right on the outside of my other coop where the rest of the flock is to adjust into which should be real comfortable. Havent decided on a name just yet. My father wants to name him, so when pops comes to visit he'll have a name! Thanks again Ron. Your the man!

Hey James, I just want to say thanks to you for the work you've done getting these birds out. My whole family has enjoyed working with them, and I can truly say these guys are totally different from my hatchery Black Australorps and Barred Rocks. Those birds run the other way when I come to the pens, and my EOs run to me! I can bend over and scoop up a hen in one hand and a rooster in the other.

They've brought a lot of pleasure to my place, and I'm looking forward to working with them.

And your shipping method rocks!

Thanks Glen! That's nice of you to say. I'm glad that you gave them a chance. Definitely a lively personality compared to a lot of other breeds. I'm finally caught up on work so I should be able to hop on here a little more to catch up with everyone. I was reading the posts and there's a lot of people with Basque now! I'm so glad fall is on the way.

P.S. I bought spiral plastic leg bands for them and hate them! They dig into their legs and they're hard to take off. I won't ever use again and wanted to let you guys know my experience just in case you are looking at leg bands!
