Campo and others have carried out research with the birds. They are almost genetically same as the birds they look like. Europe, Asia, etc. all have names for birds that come from an area or even a village. They would be considered a race. The birds in the pictures come from the Basque which is a specific area of Spain. They would be a Basque race of chickens.
