Euthanizing predators

I wonder if all electric fencing is banned by zoning, or if it would be around the perimeter of the OP’s yard? If the OP could string a few wires just around the coop and run, so they’re part of the structure, so to speak? I truly believe it would be more effective to repel 30-50 raccoons than to try to trap and kill them all. That’s a lot of bodies to dispose of!
I use polytape, 1 strand 4 to 6 inches above ground, low impedance fence charger. The high impendence fence chargers I am not if they are still made. The weed burners. I use with sweet corn, plant around 10 pounds of seed. Keeps racoon out.
I also use when I have raised pigs trains the pigs to stay in away from fence.
You could use multiple wires, but not necessary.
Chickens touch the electric wire they will stay away from it to.

Thanks to all for ideas
1 make sure coop is secured as you can. Electric fence, mesh wire, ect
2 rimfire small cal while illegal may be an option for some. Ive farted louder than a .22 short
3 drowning is usually legal but a bit messy and lomg, just watch some old sopranos episodes before to get you in the mood
4 slingshot, bow and arrow, 2x4, all potential options
5 if you have access to dry ice, CO2 in a trashbag.
6 moving live wild animals is usually illegal, and thanks to whoever released their coons near me, now they are trap shy. Dont ever do that to anyone else.

I read of someone using a slingshot and glass marbles for dispatching predators in a live trap.
Me good idea. In practice knock out coon grab by tale to take off. Coon wakes up. Now we have a party.lol

Some of the 1 pump pellet air rifles are quite and faster than a .22LR I also like the live trap take somewhere and shoot. You don't have to carry the body off like I did yesterday. Or I guess you can put them in a feed sack if you have trash pickup.
While illegal in some states they make a body gripper trap. Most things that are illegal are allowed for protecting your livestock. They are like a big walk threw mouse trap. They will kill the animal. Not suggested if your neighbors have dogs.

I would put one on every side. With that many fort know ain't going to keep them out.

I live in a suburban area where i cant fire a gun. So i have live traps. But in my state releasing a coon or skunk in another location is illegal due to rabies. And thanks to the ahole who released their coons near me... they will never go near a trap again. But in the event i get lucky...

What are eithanasia methods for trapped coons? Squirrels? Skunks? Etc?

The pure number makes calling animal control too costly
I would use a blowgun but it has to .650 caliber they are VERY POWERFUL . A man named Tim wells even killed A BEAR

The problem with using a weapon of any kind in a town or city setting is if you miss. Who or what may be behind your target? I know some are able to be used at close range, but if you get a skunk in that trap, how close are you willing to get?

Sorry about all the humanely stuff going on.. A possum did not humanely kill 2 of my beloved chickens.. I caught him over the second one and he looked like a spaghetti strainer by the time I was done.

Have you actually used this method? A broomstick is still too close for my comfort where skunks are concerned.
No. But it would work for a coon in a dog proof or live trap with no worry of spray. Her problem being coons. I seen it looking at traps a while back and thought it another possible piece in her arsenal with her coon problem.

The point of this thread is not using a real gun because she is in city limits. And once trapped you walk up a do a point blank shot. If she used a pellet gun at a distance with all guns safety and training should be involved. If you can't make the shot don't take it. Also a person standing is shooting down at a coon near the coop, if you shoot high it will still go into the ground on the other side of the coon.

I've blown a few away but the OP can't use a shotgun of any size at her place in town.
