okay,
well, i have a hen that i was told, was a black rock, i had never heard of that kind of breed,
and i am slightly worried about her, since july, she has been laying every single day, exept for 2 days,
i know it is her laying the eggs because she is the only hen in my flock that lays brown eggs,
i have read that if a hen doesn't stop laying, like going broody, or just laying less for winter, that she could get eggbound?,
if she did go egg bound what would i have to do?
she is going to be a year old on the 1st of january,
by the way i know how many eggs she lays because i have an egg chart (i know, its silly, just to know if something is up with them)
thanks in advance

I don't know, but I think that she might be a hybrid that has been bred to be like that it will be less every year.

most hybrid breeds lay better the second year, then the decline starts...

If you have a problem then you can do a search here for Egg Binding.

or you can do that now, so if you ever have that problem you already have the answer.

My Red Star hasn't taken a day off since sometime in August. Other than having shells a bit thinner than the other hens, she's fine - happy, healthy, and has a GREAT appetite!

Relax, and let her do her thing. Eventually she'll slow down.

thanks everyone, the hen in question (susanna) eats like there's no tomorrow
