Every time I go to order an incubator, I freeze...

I've spent so long pouring over the advice and reviews on here and on Amazon, but at the end of the day I keep... not ordering. I keep hearing good things about the MagicFly (link) but then I'm so nervous to pick the wrong one.

I have a roo and a few cockerels, as well as at least 4-5 girls who are laying. One reason I'm nervous to get one now is that I hardly ever see them doing the deed. Maybe it's just really short? I'm used to dogs... the process is a bit longer...

Also, obviously the incubator is supposed to keep its own temperature... but is it going to struggle if the temperature in my home is pretty chilly?

The process for chickens is seconds long. Trust me - he's probably breeding them.

The incubator should keep it's temperature but it will maintain it easier in a warm environment than a cold one. I keep my house at 62F in the winter and my incubator runs but draws more power than the summer. It's like having a little oven on.

I have Nurture Right 360 incubators and they are great. You can fill the water from the outside and do not have to open the incubator. It also has a clear acrylic wrap around lid so you can easily see everything that is going on. I had no problem with my incubators maintaining 99.5 even though we keep our small house at 70 during our 105 degree summers. This means the AC is running constantly, the incubators sit on the kitchen counter, and there were still no issues.

Chicken mating is extremely fast. It is in no way comparable to dogs (which I also raise). Do not compare the two and worry. The only way you’ll know your rooster is doing his job is if you hatch some babies. Bite the bullet and order your incubator!

Use BYC's search function.
Type in MagicFly and read through 20 threads about that bator before you buy it.

I have the same incubator, it has worked well for me. You will need a separate temperature and humidity monitor that you can collaborate. This incubator has no humidity monitor and the temperature is not spot on but easy to collaborate to one you know is correct. DBF51173-6A31-4819-ADB8-4DA7478BE7CB.png
I used this I sat it on a towel and wrapped a blanket around it to keep temperatures stable in my chilly room.
