I've been out in the barn for the past 3 days cleaning. I noticed one hen stands on the hay mow steps staring at the wall. She has very few feathers (like most of my birds). I thought they were molting, but many of them don't seem to be getting their feathers back very fast. Now I think it is feather pecking on a massive scale. Anyway, I picked this hen up and took her to the food and water. She was a little interested, but a hen shooed her away. I picked her up again and took her outside. This time, another hen chased her back into the barn. I gave her food and water in my feed room. She didn't drink, but she did eat. How do I change this? I can't separate the bullies, because there are several. I also can't separate her, because I have hens setting nests in my brooder boxes. Everyone got along fine all winter, except for too many roosters. I am now down to 2, so the hens aren't being attacked like they were. I haven't seen any feather picking, but the only hen that looks good is the one that hatched chicks 2 months ago. I am feeding layer feed, chick starter and game bird feed for my turks. Everyone eats what they want. I also free range. Sorry if this is rambling, but I think they are all tied together.
