Everyone warned me about the addiction.....

When I got my 26 EE's last Sept. I think I spent more time in my garage than I did in the house for the 6 weeks we had them in there. Now I have eggs in the bator and just got my first pip this morning! These chicks will be set up in my house since it's winter and the cars are in the garage. I'm trying to talk my hubby into letting me keep them in the living room instead of the dining room, so that I can watch them all day!!! Like a PP said enjoy them while they are little, they do grow fast!

Chicken fever is a baaaaad thing! I'm sure glad it can't be cured!

Last June we got our first day old babies and it was EXACTLY like you said!

We instantly went from no chicken knowledge to them becoming part of our family! I put my little rubbermaid storage container/brooder right in my sunroom which has sliding glass doors so I can check on them CONSTANTLY!!! I bought a bale of hay and added a fresh layer everyday so they could be cozy and snuggle up!

And it's sooo funny how that whole "Mother Hen" instinct just sneaks right up on ya!

(LOL) Oh...their too warm..oh their too cold...oh can they get to their water ok?!!! TRUST ME we COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND! It was LOTS of fun but by the time they were old enough to be outside I was sooo ready for them to be out of the house!

And I said to myself...next time they can all hatch their own babies and raise them theirselves...I've put in my time..don't want to do that again!!!Tee-Hee!!!

I get a woken up by a call

I am laughing -- One of my first hatches I was using a rectangular flat thermometer/hygrometer lying in the bottom of the button quail brooder. My mom was visiting and nervously came to wake me because "the temperature is too high I think in the brooder!" The little boogers were all piled up on the bottom 3rd of the thermometer, and it was reading their body heat. Ambient temp was perfect.

Glad y'all understand! My kids are definitely on the chicken bandwagon. My son walks in from school, Hi, Mom, going to see the chicks.
