I got my first few chicks in January. And two coops. I added two more coops today and realized that I now have 32 chicks on the farm and 23 eggs in the incubator. After repeatedly telling my husband that he will NOT be eating any of my children, I think he's finally got it. Now he just mopes around asking when we will have eggs. And I just caught myself looking on here for more chicks. I NEED TO STOP!!!!!

Hahah! Yep, addiction indeed. I know I sure am - I started with 20 hatchery stock chickens, then from there I bought over 8 dozen hatching eggs from breeders, over 40 chicks from breeders, and spent. . . Wow, I have no clue how much on all that.

Take the Tolbunts for example. . . 163 for a dozen hatching eggs.

Good luck, and get more.

I'm having problems of my own, here, I keep window shopping in the "Hatching Eggs for Sale" section. I make excuses that I have several broody hens that would be more than happy to hatch any eggs I buy

Chickens are the gateway drug. Next comes ducks...then other animals.

Soon you'll have your own funny farm!

Chickens are the gateway drug!???!!! Oh, No! We just bought 108 acres and inherited 2 donkeys and 7 goats with it. We've had 4 baby goats and our girl donkey is expecting. I did the chickens all on my own. If they are just the beginning, and I have all this pasture land that needs to be filled up, oh... the possibilities are endless! I'm thinking miniature donkeys, babydoll sheep, a few horses....

I thought I would stop after I got 15 chicks last year. Oops... I started setting up a second coop a couple of weeks ago and am getting 25 chicks in about 1 week. No chicks next year. At least that's the plan. I DEFINITELY am NOT getting a incubator. I would be in trouble. I tend to get carried away when I do something like starting a new hobby.

BUT if you get an incubator you can join Hatch-aholics anonymous. We're enablers. And it's so much fun - you'll never want to stop!

Thanks, Brenda! We're having so much fun on the farm. Once we have our actual house there, I know it will be amazing. There's only so much I can do as far as animals living 10 minutes away. Good times!
