Everyone's favorite game: hen or roo?!

Hi all!

I have two chicks in my 4 week old Black Australorp flock that we suspect are roosters. We got two from the straight run batch hoping for a rooster to add to the flock, so we are excited!

I think they are both roosters from their development at this age but wanted some group consensus ~

Pic#1 is of Roo, the suspected rooster

Pic #2 is Dot, the second chick who is showing waddle and comb growth unlike the pullets

I would guess that the first bird is a cockerel, and the second may also be a cockere.

I'd honestly expect more comb out of an Australorp male at that age based on my boys, but my Blue Australorps from Welp seem to have been selected for early maturity so that may not apply to Black Australorps from a different source.

Thanks 3KillerBS! I'd say Roo is a few days away from having the comb I your 4 week pic which would make sense since they are a few days away from 4 weeks. I'll keep my eye on Dot for development within the next week!
