Evil hen!!

my ee or amecucana what ever she is is almost 6 1/2 months old comb is bright red no eggs but she is now a total butt head she is mean! i go out there and she squaks at me and she has never made a noise before now, she tries to peck me, she will chase me around the yard and if i just stop she starts hopping and fluffing up her feathers at me and tries to peck at my feet. i have searched the yard there is no hidden eggs whats up with the hen from h-e- double hockey sticks

From my very oun experience, this is very common some hen can be real butt heads. has she ever been held before that usualy does the trick.

but they are really mean sometimes.naturally.

Yep, good suggestion...simply and calmly pick your hen up from the roost (this works best ) or wherever you are able to get a hold on her with the least amount of stress for your hen.

Keep in mind that you need to hold both her wings by her side firmly enough that she can't flap them...she will squack and feel like her life is in jeopardy....you will feel the same way, if you never held a chicken before, however talking softly and keeping a focus on keeping things calm will work for you both....they are gentle fowl and are willing to calm down quickly....you will too, leaving this happen often for a while will make a difference.

Out of 26 babies I had one mean hen. I gave her to my husbands doctor along with a couple of good friendly hens. And a warning that she was meaner than a snake. I figured if anyone could bandage a wound she created on someone it would a doc! The other 25 girls were real sweet.

It is a hen and i can normaly hold her a lot but as of two days ago she turned evil it tried to hold her but it ended up being a chicken chase around the yard then my 7 month old woke up from his nap crying. Shd hasn't layed an egg yet so hopefuly in the morning.
