Evil roos

They are almost a year old, got them mid April 2017, they have been fightin each other and being aggresive towards all of us since about sept-oct. I'm pretty much ready to give em all an ax!
Sounds like a plan. I have had many "teenage" cockerels going through the hormonal stage that are not human aggressive. I've never had leghorn roosters (not enough meat on them), so I can't say if it's a breed thing. Some do have more aggressive tendencies than others, though.

I have 3 white leghorn roos, and all 3 are very aggresive. I've tried walking thru them, asserting dominance, tough love, nothing seems to help. What can I do?
I forgot to add to my first post that if your roosters don't understand that you are the human and you are dominant over them (not the dominant rooster because you are not a rooster and they know that) then they need to be invited for dinner. A smart rooster will understand that his human is the bringer of the food and treats, and every other good thing in his life. When you start training them at a young age - the whole walking through them, standing up to challenges, etc. - and they still don't get it, you don't want to keep those genetics going. Find a smart one and let him breed your hens.

Hmmm, good point.

Thank you to everyone for your replies, I have been on the fence about this for a while. Looks like we will be eating our first fresh chicken soon. Now to go to the recipes page and look around.

Visit the meat birds section before you do it. There is lots of good information and if you have questions, will get a lot of responses. You can figure out what method will be most comfortable for you to dispatch (and by that I mean something quick and humane), how to clean them and ways to cook them. There won't be much meat on them because they are leghorns. They will have much more texture and flavor than what you buy in the grocery store. Please let us know how it goes for you. I'm interested in hearing your thoughts and experiences.

Thanks, will do. :thumbsup

This is just my opinion, but I think there is too much competition between the 3 of them. Pick one that you want to use for fertilizing eggs and get rid of the other two. When he becomes the real Ruler of the Roost, he may just calm down. The girls will be happier too! Imagine having to deal with 3!!! :D
