Evil Rooster: Advice Needed

ive had viscious roosters i was able to cure and some i wasnt able to cure. sometimes a pair of leather gloves and a good slap side of the head is all they need. sometimes it makes them worse. ive got a couple of large fowl game roosters that would wear you out if you tried to beat it out of them. they only get worse.

Hello, I just thought that I would add somethinf to this thread....

Now, I've never done this but I know that someone on here (sadly, I can't remember who) swears by it. Keep a big bucket of water near by, and whent the rooster attacks you, grab him and hold him by his feet. Take him to the bucket and quickly dunk him! Do it fast so that he doesn't drown and then let him breathe for about ten seconds, then do it again... Depending on his reaction, do it as many times as needed. Now, I would never do this in the winter as it is freezing here in Maine, but I don't know where you are from.

I have only ever had one mean rooster (black sexlink) and he died before I had the chance to search BYC for suggestions. I simply carried a stick that I had taken the bark off from. It never worked. One time my sister was carrying a 2X4 to the burn pile and he attacked her... Not thinking, she swung it and hit him. He fell to the ground and didn't move. She thought, "Oh, great!I killed him! She's going to kill me!" But a few seconds later he jumped up and began to attack her again! She had knocked him out and he still attacked people!

I keep reading that you're supposed to pick up the aggressive roo if he attacks you, but how do you catch him. Mine is about 5 months now. He hasn't attacked, but I have seen him do the stomp dance when I'm there (not that I know that he's stomping at me). He generally stays away from me and if he does try to come within 3 feet, I shoo him away. But really, I could never catch him to pick him up. How do you all do that?...especially if he's all crazy.

I too had one just the same way. I started jokingly calling him "Dumplin". Mistake! My wife heard it and!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, you get the idea. But I've never heard of one niceing up again after becoming aggressive. You could try keeping him in the coop while the hens range. Short of that, you may want to talk to my wife. How were the hens ?
