Ex-Battery Hens or Hybrids??

Well considering the time of year and the daylight hours that may be the problem. You might try putting a light on in the coop to bring the number of hours up to 14. At 6.5 months I wouldn't think it'd be long now. Bet if you got some new girls they'd lay the next day. You could put a wooden egg in the nest boxes, just to show them where they should lay when they're ready.

hi there, i'm also in england, in kent, i bought 4 hybrids in august, all 17 weeks, within a month they were all laying, and still are throughout the horrible weather we are having, they are brilliant birds, having said that i have also heard positive things about ex-battery hens, good layers, hardy, sometimes though you have to book them as they arnt always available, good luck with your decision. chris:lol:
