Examples of show quality marans plz

Not sure on the vaccine question (I know in some states you can't show birds that have had certain vaccines, because they can spread it to unvaccinated birds. I suppose it may differ from state to state, but in MD you are not required to vaccinate to show--you just have to have Pullorum-free status and have been tested for AI within 90 days). Right now Black Coppers and Wheatens have written standards and are the closest to being admitted to the APA (though I imagine it will take another year or two). Then they will work on Cuckoos. After that??? Not sure. I don't know if there is a written standard for Black or not. Check the marans chicken club web site, all of the standards written so far are listed there.

For the most part, the standards being written follow the French versions. For example, no clean-legged birds will meet the standard as written.

I wonder if a hen laid an egg while being judged and it was light if the judge would mark her down for it? My older black feather leg lays a beautiful dark, large, full egg. The younger one is just starting to get a red comb and is not laying yet. I expect good things from her as well.

Show entry health requirements are state by state--neither APA nor ABA have any. Most shows in the west merely require healthy birds; no testing or vaccines needed. Most in the east require testing.
