Excellent Website (Atlas of Avian Diseases)

Hi all,


I just found the most incredible website that covers so many avian diseases, it is just a wonderful resource for us chicken people, which I thought I MUST share. I don't know if anyone else has posted this before, but I thought I'd just do it in case no one did.

It is by Cornell University, College of Vet Medicine, and it has an encyclopedia of a myriad of Avian diseases, provides photographic examples, list symptoms, treatment, medical notes, etc and it is listed by name, or you can choose to search by symptoms (Locations), Exam findings, or you can click on View All by whichever search criteria. I think it is brilliant, and uber useful. I recommend that you save it as a bookmark.

Well, I clicked on the "combs" part and, I have to say, when they say "gross lesions", they mean really gross.

Yes, I forgot to warn everybody, the images are graphic, but they are also imperative to help whomever needs to identify what's wrong with their birds. They can compare and use the photos to self-diagnose. (If they aren't grossed out)

I was, and am still very terrified of looking at those photos myself.

A Moderator at BYC might decide to add this link as a permanent resource. Hinkjc, do you want to add it to the sticky page of resource links?

Fortuantely, Anna, your pics look nothing like the avian pox pics on that website! Yeah!

Very good website! I don't have a problem looking at the pics. as long as I'm not eating!
