Penny was sold as an Exchequer Leghorn, but the seller told me he showed her as an Ancona... What is she, really? In searching, I've found they are very similar. She does have some feathers that are solid white, to go along with a lot of mottling. Is that the difference? Exchequers have some soild feathers, whereas Anconas are mottled only?

Thanks.

Thanks, I was thinking the same thing about the comb... She's two years old, so if it was going to flop, it should have by now... Any other opinions? The exchequer pattern is called pied. She definitely looks more mottled...

She's an Ancona but the erect comb is a flaw in Anconas as wel as Leghorns. Females in all the Mediterranean breeds should have lopped combs except, of course, the Buttercups.
