Excited and nervous and all those new parent feelings

We are getting our first batch (and only for this year) of chicken tomorrow! I'm so excited, but nervous that I will do something wrong and that will be it!!
My kids can't wait.

We are expecting 25 chicks. Is it customary that the hatchery will throw in a few extra? We are getting 10 BO Pullets and 15 straight run Gold Stars! Ordered from Hoovers. Hopefully all will be well.

Unless you specified otherwise, you will probably have extras and they will most likely be roosters.
