My son has made a discovery. As I said one of the eggs that we hatched was an egg from our own chickens and the hen that laid that egg is an Ameraucana hen, but we didn't know who the rooster was that fertilized the egg because she is in a coop with 3 different roosters. Ameraucana, Giant Barred Cochin, and Black Cochin are the roosters. All the chicks look the same and so I can't tell which one is ours........ or so I thought. I just assumed that since they looked the same maybe the egg was fertilized by the Ameraucana Rooster.......... Well we can now rule him out because my son noticed that one particular chick has feathers on it's legs (lol), making him one part Ameraucana and one part Cochin. Now the million dollar question is which Cochin? Is it the Giant barred Cochin or the Black Cochin? I'll post a pic here shortly and let you all decide.
