HI! I was doing searches on chickens and came about your sight and I was hooked after spending an hour without realizing it looking at all your helpful postings! You had me as a member when I read "Your friends are problay getting tired of hearing stories about chickens" lol! We are very new to chickens we bought our nine girls two weeks ago. We have three Black Pullets, three White Pullets and three Red Pullets. I have been in love with chickens since a little girl and my parents friends had a flock. When we visited I HAD to go feed them and collect the eggs. I loved it! We have always lived in town so we never thought to have them but we talked to a few people and found out it was OK to have them and they werent as hard to have as we thought. We are going to drop my sons treehouse out of the tree and use it as a coop. I am looking for all the helpful advice I can get. Thank you!

Welcome to BYC! You're going to love it here! This is the best place for advice. I grew up on a farm and had chickens for pets through most of my childhood but I still learn new things all the time on here. It's also nice to meet people who like to talk about chickens as much as you do!

I tend to take things quite literally. Please don't drop the treehouse just lower it gently (if possible). Is you son okay with that? Don't want him resenting chickens who took his house away.

Ha Ha! Drumstick! We are not going to drop it literally! I'm not sure how exactly we are going to get it out of the tree so hopefully it doesnt drop. It is eight feet in the trees. We have a friend that is really good at figuring out things like this so we will recrute his help. My son just turned 14 and hasnt used the tree house in a couple years and is fine with using it as a coop. He is way to excited about the chickens to miss it! Muttsfan I am in Northern Michigan also. Leelanau County to be exact! Great to meet you both.
